What the charts and ledgers of Kworgalya record of this place. Its own story has not yet been told.
A town with no water at hand either moves or makes, and Asmaru makes. Grassland carries on in every direction from it, dry underfoot for most of the year, with no lake at its edge and no coast within reach. Raw goods come in by cart from the farm country and from the workings scattered about it, and leave again worked. The yards and sheds along its streets are the whole of its economy, and their noise is the sound of the town. Founded in the second wave of expansion, it keeps a plain and practical shape: room for wagons, room for fire, little given over to display.
Its people are Ashanar of the interior, more used to a workbench than a deck and exacting about the terms of a commission. Tasmaru was the name the town was founded under, and the older form has not entirely gone out of use. Asmaru's allegiance is given to Tamazor, the great farming city that dominates this country; the faction governing both is seated at Lemmalu, and the wider bloc is Saradir.
PeopleThe AshanarThe Ashanar are the humans of Kworgalya's storm-lashed southwestern coast — corsairs, deep-sea mariners, and pact-makers who dwell beyond the reach of any written law. Bound only…
CityTamazorDeep grassland soil and a lake that holds water through the dry months feed Tamazor, a great Ashanar farming city whose harvest supplies neighbours that grow nothing themselves.
CityLemmaluSalt water on one side and dripping rainforest on the other, Lemmalu is a modest Ashanar harbour town living by ships and crews, its allegiance given inland to Tamazor.
CitySaradirRiver-cut boreal forest surrounds Saradir, a major Ashanar military city of the west that owes allegiance to no other seat and draws it instead from cities out on the grassland.
CityAstaurumAstaurum stands offshore in the far east on river-fed grassland, a Suvanar and Lohanar city given over to learning, counted among the greatest in the world, and answerable to…
CityAusavatAusavat guards the north-eastern taiga from a lake shore, an elven garrison city of the fourth wave whose drill yards, stores and winter ice-roads are the whole of its business.
CityAzuratSet where temperate forest runs down to the south-western ocean, Azurat is one of the oldest Ashanar foundations, a substantial city of halls and study that answers to Bareshum.
CityBannevarSet between seasonal forest, river and lake, Bannevar works timber and grain, drills its levies, governs the country around it in its own name, and answers to Risbern in the…
