The Cursed Blue Rose
In the farthest reaches of Kworgale, where wind itself dares not linger and time seems to hesitate, there lies a dominion forged not in conquest — but in duty. The Glacial Dominion stretches across the vast frozen expanses of north and northeastern Kworgale, a realm of crystalline spires, endless snowfields, and ancient glaciers that predate mortal memory.
This is not a land of desolation. It is a land of preservation.
The Glacial Dominion was established by Glacya, daughter of the Warden of Stillstars, one of the Five Elder Elehaths who fled the destruction of their homeworld. Though the exact date of its founding is lost to the ages, the Dominion was built upon the Warden’s teachings: that ice is not merely a force of destruction, but the truest expression of balance, patience, and preservation.
When Glacya ascended to the throne in 111 DS, the Dominion became what it remains today — a silent vigil against the corruption of fire and the ever-present threat of the Nightmare.
At the heart of the Dominion rises Evaskara, the frozen capital. A city of impossible beauty, its architecture blends organic ice formations with precisely crafted starsteel structures. Towers of living crystal catch and refract the pale northern light, casting prismatic auroras across the city at all hours.
Above it all, set upon a commanding height, stands the Crystalline Palace — seat of the Frost Queen. Within its innermost hall rests the Iridescent Throne, from which Glacya has ruled for over twelve centuries. The throne itself is said to be carved from a single shard of primordial ice, older than Kworgale itself, and it pulses with a cold light that responds to the queen’s will.
The Glacial Dominion is home to a diverse coalition of ice-attuned races united under Glacya’s sovereignty:
All share a fanatical devotion to their queen. Her subjects would sooner die than incur her disfavor, let alone betray her trust.
The Dominion is sustained by two extraordinary thaumaturgical systems:
Memordia — A network of crystalline plinths throughout the Dominion, each containing the preserved consciousness of powerful mages who served in ages past. Through Memordia, Glacya and her court can access the psychic counsel and thymara of the dead — an ever-growing library of arcane wisdom.
Iridalia — A system that focuses the thymara of the Dominion’s devoted populace through the Crystalline Palace itself. Within Evaskara, Glacya can channel the collective willpower of her people, enabling tremendous feats of sorcery that would be impossible for any single caster.
The Dominion faces war on multiple fronts:
The Pyreheart Nexus — To the north lies the prison of Galforonte, the First Demon Lord. Glacya imprisoned him there at tremendous cost during the Frostfire Cataclysm of 1028 DS, and she maintains his containment to this day. But his presence agitates the Great Spirit of Fire, causing never-ending waves of demons to spawn and assault the Dominion’s northern borders.
The Infernal Creed — From the south, cultists of this dark faith and their monstrous allies probe the Dominion’s defenses, seeking to free their master or simply weaken the frozen realm.
The Shadow Coven — Perhaps the most insidious threat. Rumors speak of a secret cabal that has allegedly infiltrated key areas of Glacya’s administration. In a realm built on absolute loyalty, the mere whisper of betrayal is a weapon.
The Glacial Dominion does not seek expansion. It does not hunger for conquest. Under Glacya’s reign, it exists for a single, unwavering purpose: to ensure the world does not tip into ruin through reckless power.
Fire, to the Dominion, is not evil. But it is dangerous when unbound.
And Demon Fire?
That is not fire.
That is blasphemy.
