The Cursed Blue Rose
Open grassland runs to every horizon around Kerevoz, broken only by the lake that pulls herds, wells and wagon tracks into one place. The town itself is modest, and the ground under it is the kind armies want: water, forage and level country on all sides, so that whatever musters here can leave in any direction. Soldiering has been the livelihood since the first wave of expansion carried Ashanar settlers out past the original foundations. Kerevoz keeps drill yards where other towns of its size keep market squares, and fills its granaries against a campaign rather than against a hard winter.
Its people are Ashanar, covenant-minded, though here the covenants are sworn in service rather than over cargo, and families measure their generations by musters. The ruling faction and the wider bloc both carry the name of Kerevoz, and that name is the town's chief inheritance; the orders themselves come from Mazarka, and Kerevoz obeys them without much argument. It furnishes the force and leaves to others the question of where to aim it.
