The Cursed Blue Rose
Everything Tovamir has, it has because of the river. The town lies in the temperate rainforest of the east, on water that carries goods down out of country too wet and broken for good roads, and its living is the handling of other people's cargo: weighing it, storing it, breaking bulk, sending it on. Two supports sit around that trade. Harvest gives sap, bark, nut and timber out of the forest, and production turns a portion of it into goods worth more than the raw. For a modest place, Tovamir carries warehousing out of all proportion to its size.
Tovamir came out of the fourth wave of expansion. Its people are Suvanar, and they answer to Morbora and beyond Morbora to Tirbasos. A trade town takes its character from what passes through it, and what has settled in this one is a taste for reckoning. Tovamites hold the Ruby as divine and venerate the Thoughtmaiden, the aspect of knowledge, whose priesthood is all women. An honest tally, Tovamites hold, is itself a form of observance.
