Koravid stands where the boreal forest comes down to a lake shore, in country cold enough that half the year's work is done indoors. Fish, game and cut timber keep its kitchens and hearths supplied, but none of that is what the city is for. Koravid lives by learning. Its halls take students in and keep them for years at a time, its teachers hold their posts for generations, and an argument opened in a lecture room in autumn may still be running when the ice breaks. What the place sends out is trained minds and settled questions.
Raised in the fifth and most recent wave of expansion, Koravid is among the newest of the elven foundations in the north, and it has the deliberate look of a place built to a purpose rather than grown into one. Its people are elves. The city is held under the Glacial Dominion, and the north comes to it for schooled counsel.
