Beyond the eastern edge of the northern forests the charted world thins to almost nothing. One settlement is recorded in this whole quarter: Ausavat, standing on a lake in the taiga. East and south of it the map carries no town at all until the coast.
Ausavat is an elven holding and it answers to the Glacial Dominion, which makes it the furthest east that the Dominion's authority is charted. Its living is military first — this is a garrison before it is anything else, and the emptiness around it is reason enough for one. The Pyreheart Nexus lies to its west.
That a region should hold one town is itself worth recording. Whether the country beyond Ausavat is unsettled, unmapped, or simply unrecorded by those who keep the ledgers, the Atlas does not say.
