The Cursed Blue Rose
In the temperate desert at the centre of the continent, where water is scarce and nothing grows in quantity, Merynon built a major city out of the one resource the ground did not have to provide: men under arms. It was raised in the second wave of expansion, and it was first called Domarus. What it lives on is soldiering — companies hired out to whoever pays for them, and taken by force from whoever does not. Distance serves as its wall, for the same emptiness that starves the city of crops prevents unwanted armies from arriving in any good order.
Merynites are Lohanar by descent, though little of their southern kin's temper for law and accord shows in how this city conducts itself. Allegiance is owed to the Creed, and the faith is the Infernal Creed itself — a cult of cruelty and domination whose demands sit comfortably beside a trade in mercenary work and raiding. Culture here is no afterthought: Merynon keeps a strong civic life of its own and treats its reputation as an asset to be maintained rather than lived down.
