The Cursed Blue Rose
The south-east runs from open savanna into grassland and up into rocky mountain, with seasonal forest in the folds between. Eight of its twelve charted settlements are landlocked, three stand on the ocean and one on a river. What marks the region out is what its towns do for a living: garrison duty is the first economy of six of the twelve, half the region, more than anywhere else in the Atlas. Farming, scholarship, naval trade and mining share the rest.
The Greathammers lie away to the west, and the Blackspire Abyss and the ashen country beyond them.
Nine of the twelve settlements are Suvanar, and eleven of the twelve hold the Ruby as divine — a near-unanimity of belief that no other region approaches. Whatever else divides the south-east, it does not divide over the Ruby.
Authority is split between two seats of almost equal weight: Daskilon holds four settlements and Soryntha four, with the Emberguard holding two and Andronis one. One town answers to the Shadow Coven under the Creed, the single dissenting allegiance in the region. Above them the Daskilon bloc gathers seven towns and that of Tirbasos four. Daskilon is a great city; Velastra, Karnosta and Tirbasos are substantial. Ignis Sanctum and Skaitos both lie here.
